SYNOPSIS

halt [-q] [-l|-r]


DESCRIPTION

The halt commands shuts down the system. The default behavior, without the -l or -r options, is to shut down the system, and not reboot.

Options

-q 

does not prompt the user to save when shutting down user programs.

-r 

reboots the system. After shutting down, the system reboots.

-l 

logs the current user off. This option does not reboot the system.

The -l and -r options are mutually exclusive.


DIAGNOSTICS

Possible exit status values are:

0 

Successful completion.

>0 

An error occurred.
