strerror

display a system error message 

Command

SYNOPSIS

strerror [-c cmdname] errno ...

DESCRIPTION

strerror takes the system error number indicated by errno and displays the corresponding system error message in the same manner that the C function strerror() does.

Options

-c 

prefixes the error message with the given command name, followed by a colon.

DIAGNOSTICS

Possible exit status values are:

0 

Successful completion.

>0 

An error occurred.
