deroff

remove nroff/troff formatter commands, prepare word list

Command

SYNOPSIS

deroff [-nw] [file ...]

DESCRIPTION

The deroff command removes all embedded formatting commands for text formatters compatible with troff or nroff. This involves removing lines beginning with a dot (.), expanding .so and .nx requests, and removing the most common escape sequences for font and size requests, and other troff or nroff directives. deroff writes the stripped text to the standard output.

-n

is used with the -w option to make the word list include the file name and line number where each word was found in the input.

-w

divides the stripped text into a sequence of words, one per line.
