pwrmgr

list and change power schemes

Command

SYNOPSIS

pwrmgr -l

pwrmgr -b

pwrmgr -S num

pwrmgr -h | -s [-f]

DESCRIPTION

The pwrmgr utility displays or changes power schemes.

Power schemes control the system's behavior when on battery or main power, when to spin down disks, or when to blank the screen. These schemes can be defined from the Power Options applet in the Control Panel.

The pwrmgr utility normally only affects the local system; however you can use it with rsh or secsh to affect remote system.

Normally, when placing the system in hibernation or suspension mode (with -h or -s, respectively), all users connected to the system are given a chance to veto the move. This behavior can be overridden with the -f option.

Options

-b

Displays battery status.

-f

Forces a system into hibernation or suspend mode. This lets you override another user from vetoing such a move.

-h

Places the system in hibernation mode. This option requires appropriate permissions on w2000; machines. and is mutually exclusive with the -s option.

-l

Displays a numbered list of defined power schemes.

-S num

Changes to power scheme num where num is a number associated with a power scheme in a list displayed by the -l option.

-s

Suspends the system. This option requires appropriate permissions on w2000; machines and is mutually exclusive with the -h option.
